Denominations: 30, 60 & 90 Reis

I have all three values of this forgery.

Features common to all values:
  1. The white ball in BAND A at the top of the stamp is circular, the one at the bottom is smaller and oval in shape. The leaf patterns are somewhat scraggy in appearance and vary in the different denominations.
  2. BAND B is a sequence of pairs of long black dashes separated from each other by one or occasionally two white dots.
  3. BAND C is a double row of black dashes but these are much shorter than those of BAND B.
  4. BAND D is identical to BAND C but on my copy not as easily observed.
  5. The spaces between the bands is filled with a pattern of diamond shaped black dots but these are not grouped in any particular formation. Those in the lower part of the stamp between BANDS B & C are noticeably smaller than those in the other areas of the background
  6. .

Features specific to individual values:

30 Reis

30 Reis

  1. The leaf pattern to the left of the ball in the top border is 3 3 3 2 and to the right 3 3 3 3 1 the middle leaf of the third bunch being displaced to the right. In the bottom border it is the normal 3 3 3 1 to the left of the ball. On the right only the first two bunches of three are reproduced with any degree of clarity the remainder are jumbled together in such a manner as to make further description speculative.
  2. The left branch of the divided tail of the figure three is considerably higher than the right.
  3. A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the top border parallel to the frame line would pass close to the centre of the ball in the bottom border.

60 Reis

60 Reis

  1. The leaf pattern to the left of the ball in the top border is3 3 3 3 and to the right 3 3 3 2 1. The pattern in the bottom border is the normal 3 3 3 1 on both left and right.
  2. A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the top border parallel to the frame line would pass through the centre of the ball in the bottom border.

90 Reis

90 Reis

  1. The leaf pattern to the left of the white ball in the top border is 3 3 3 3 1, on the right it is 3 3 3 2 1. In the lower border it is 3 3 3 1 on both sides of the white ball.
  2. A line drawn downwards through the centre of the ball in the top border parallel to the frame line would pass to the right of the ball in the lower border.
Note: Unfortunately the printing of some of the forgeries is not of a particularly high standard and this has made the interpretation of some of the features of the design difficult. This is particularly true in respect of the leaf patterns on either side of the white balls at the top and bottom of the stamp and due allowance will have to be made for a measure of variation between individual copies of the same forgery type.
